School Science and Technology (SST)

The Rice University School Science and Technology (SST) Program in the Wiess School of Natural Sciences provides science enrichment to students and teachers in the Greater Houston region. Our mission is to provide high quality, large-scale professional development programs and resources, focusing on science concepts, research-based inquiry teaching strategies, teacher leadership, and new developments in science and technology.

ConocoPhillips Rice Elementary Model Science Labs (REMSL)
This nationally renowned program promotes science education by training elementary school teachers to deepen their professional knowledge, explore the latest science concepts and learn new teaching methods aimed at students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Research shows that if students do not develop an interest in science by the fifth grade, they are unlikely to develop an interest in science at all. We offer two formats of the ConocoPhillips Rice Elementary Model Science Lab (REMSL) program in order to accommodate elementary teachers’ busy schedules.
